This Privacy Policy explains how VibeSpeak handles data when you record speaking practice, generate transcripts, request AI feedback, and use auto-renewable subscriptions.
1. Information We Process
- Practice content on your device: audio recordings, videos, transcripts, transcript edits, AI feedback, recording duration, creation time, and local practice history.
- iCloud sync data: if iCloud is available, the app may sync practice summaries and AI feedback through your private Apple iCloud database, including creation and update time, duration, source type, transcript preview, transcript character count, analysis status, analysis time, short analysis summary, full AI feedback content, media-removed status, and deletion status.
- AI feedback requests: when you tap the analysis feature, the app sends the transcript, scene title, task instruction, recording mode, English level if available, app version, platform, request ID, and an anonymous user/install identifier to our backend.
- Subscription information: Apple and RevenueCat process purchase status, product identifiers, entitlement status, renewal dates, and restore-purchase information. We do not receive your full payment card details.
- Security, diagnostics, and quota metadata: our backend and diagnostics tools may process request security-verification information, timestamps, nonce values, hashed IP address, anonymous user ID, install ID, request ID, usage counts, crash logs, device model, operating system version, app version, and performance information to prevent abuse, enforce daily limits, and improve reliability.
- Permissions: camera and microphone access are used to record practice; speech recognition is used to turn speech into text; Photos add-only permission is used only when you choose to save exported media.
2. How We Use Information
- To record, transcribe, save, display, sync, and delete your practice records on your device and, where available, through your private iCloud database.
- To provide AI feedback such as a natural version, useful expressions, encouragement, and one main improvement suggestion.
- To manage Pro access, restore purchases, and check subscription entitlement status.
- To protect the service from replayed, excessive, or unauthorized requests.
- To maintain, debug, and improve the app experience.
3. Local Storage and Server Storage
Your recordings, transcripts, transcript edits, and AI feedback are primarily stored locally on your device. If iCloud is available, practice summaries and AI feedback may sync through your private Apple iCloud database. Audio and video media files are not uploaded by this app's current CloudKit sync. You may delete a practice record or remove local media from the app.
Our current backend is designed for minimal retention. It does not store full user transcripts or full AI feedback in the application database. It stores quota and abuse-prevention records such as request ID, anonymous user/install identifiers, hashed IP address, and creation time.
4. Third-Party Services
- Apple: provides iOS permissions, speech recognition, App Store purchases, subscriptions, Photos saving, and iCloud/CloudKit private database sync.
- RevenueCat: helps manage subscription products, customer information, entitlement status, and restore purchases.
- AI provider: when you request AI feedback, transcript text and related prompt context are sent through our backend to an AI service provider to generate feedback.
- Bugly: helps collect crash and diagnostic information so we can find and fix stability issues.
- Hosting provider: hosts the backend API and may process network logs needed for security and operations.
Third-party services process data under their own policies and technical controls.
5. Speech Recognition and AI Feedback
Speech recognition may be processed by Apple depending on your iOS settings, device capabilities, language, and Apple service availability. AI feedback is optional and only occurs after you choose to analyze a transcript.
6. Retention
Local practice records remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. Server-side security and quota metadata is retained only as long as reasonably needed for service operation, abuse prevention, billing entitlement checks, legal compliance, and troubleshooting.
7. Your Choices
- You can deny or revoke camera, microphone, speech recognition, and Photos permissions in iOS Settings.
- You can delete practice records or remove local media inside the app where supported.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings.
- You can contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of data we control, subject to verification and legal limits.
8. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, backend, subscriptions, or legal requirements change. The effective date above shows the latest version.
